How Bob Hates You Works

Bob Hates You is a survival quiz game where every round follows the same loop: Bob serves a rigged true question, you research or guess, you lock an answer, you tap Reveal when ready, and Bob seethes in the background. Tension comes from shrinking research timers — not from fair difficulty curves.

The rigged question bank

Questions are real. Answers are real. Bob does not invent nonsense — he curates obscure, entertaining facts from Wikipedia and open sources. Coronations, hippos, cheese that explodes in a cave: the kind of stupid footnotes you want to know even when you are about to lose.

Wrong options are plausible and drawn from the same sources. Normal players guess. Experts get a sliver of hope. Almost everyone leaves curious even when they die.

Research phase — googling is gameplay

Early sections give you up to 60 seconds to google under the table. Backgrounding the app triggers a cheating animation and a push notification countdown — because researching answers is not a cheat code, it is the game.

From section 5 onward, research time collapses to 10 seconds. Panic guessing returns. Most runs live and die in sections 3–5 when the clock betrays you. Dumb luck becomes the feature Bob prefers.

Answer and Reveal

You pick an answer and your selection locks in — but the result does not show until you tap Reveal. That is deliberate: streamers can read the question, argue with chat, build the bit, then drop the punchline. The Host holds the stage; Bob mutters from the back once you reveal.

Endless run, section locks, and scoring

There is no question cap. The goal is the highest score you can bank before Bob wins. Points climb in game-show thousands and double each section (1k → 2k → 4k → …).

Every five questions, a slice of your score becomes unburnable — safe even if you eat it on the next round. Everything else is still burnable. Push your luck or bank what you have got.

Question types follow a fixed ladder: True/False for the opening five, then easy four-choice, then medium, then a meaner pool. No adaptive difficulty goblins — just Bob, your score, and your nerve.

The cast

You — The main character. Contestant energy, center stage. Dumb grin. Confidence with no supporting evidence. Luck is your superpower and your punchline.

The Host — On-stage presenter to your left. Fake cheer, reads every question. Uncomfortable but professional.

Bob — Antagonist on your right. Owns the rigged show, rigs the bank, hates you personally. Background during questions; steps up front for intro and outro.
